If the user turns on Enhanced Protected Mode, they will then have 64-bit tab processes by default for the desktop IE10. However, for compatibility with plug-ins, IE10 on the desktop runs 32-bit tab processes by default.

Even if you get a refund, why not try the next version in demo mode for free and see if you can get things running then.Īgain, sorry for you troubles, but I'm sure your situation will be resolved to your satisfaction if you contact Codeweavers. The Internet Explorer is one of the most widely used browsers on the Web, but sometimes due to compatibility problems or improper function, is required to completely uninstall and reinstall. There also a new version on it's way really soon. You could have easily tested things and moved on if it didn't work. In any case, why not have tried Crossover first (that's what I thought you did)? The demo mode is fully functionnal for what I believe is a 30 days period.

You don't need to get all worked up just yet, as this will probably be resolved in your favor wihtout much effort on your part.

Not being part of the staff, I can't make promises, but I'm sure you will find Codeweavers very understanding. That being said, just contact the staff at and tell them your situation. As for "they" being on IE 10, by all means do use Windows (win7, or win8)! IE 10 won't even be on Vista even though it is still technically supported by MS, why should it run on your Mac again? Your expectations were a little off from reality, but I'm sorry it wasn't made clearer to you so as to avoid you the trouble. Just one guy rated it bronze with a plethora of "not working" right under that, and IE 9 is still not officially supported. Yeah, but ie9 it is rated "bronze", as in barely fucntionnal. Arstechnica has a habit of making articles on browser shares that might help you make your mind about things.īut if you really want to see your site with IE, I think the only surefire way is at the very least with a virtual machine and a copy of Windows, or dual-booting. I have tried both in a win7 Virtual machine, and I haven't seen any difference mind you.

I don't think it matters if the browser is 32 or 64 bit per se, but Crossover is strictly 32 bit at this time anyway. You will probably be wasting your time as IE9 is know not to work. So if you're going to fool around with versions of IE other than 6 or 7, I would go for probably IE9 for win7, as any other version will be dumped along with XP and Vista. In Vista, I believe ie9 is the latest explorer, but Vista is also basically at end of life for standard support since april, and extended support scheduled for april 2017. In XP, ie8 is the latest on that platform, but XP is already at the official end of life for standard support, and extended (read commercial) support will end in april 2014. There's no harm in trying 8, 9, or 10, but I wouldn't really have high hopes if I were you. For as far as I know, all other versions will not be very useful for you. Right now, only ie6 and 7 are functionnal with Crossover.
